#2 Dark humor is not racism, and racism is not dark humor_ now read that again!
Diskussionsrunde zum Verhältnis Rassismus – Humor auf Englisch / Discussion on the relation between racism and humor
When we revolt it’s not for a particular culture. We revolt simply because, for many reasons, we can no longer breathe. Frantz Fanon
Subtle racism, also known as covert racism, is described as a form of discrimination against individuals through often evasive or seemingly passive methods. This form of discrimination is well dressed as “dark humor” and often individuals who are being discriminated against are labelled as not being “humorous” enough. Subtle racism is difficult to discern and the actions in question can be easily justified through dark humor. This event opens a discussion to explore the depth of subtle racism masked with humor; a cultured new age of political inequality hidden between the lines of being humorous. The discussion involves references from music, literature, and personal experiences of course with humor.
